Make it Last a Little Longer #3

This shirt was too short on the tummy and the arms.  I ruched the sleeves and added a skirt to make it a three tiered maxi dress.

Make it Last a Little Longer #2

Most of the children's clothes that get outgrown at our house get passed on to someone else that can use them. These jammies could just not be passed on with the bottoms looking like this.

The other knee looked slightly better.  They seem doomed for the landfill don't they?  Not so! They are salevagable! I've been using this tutorial to turn the shirt and pants into little boy boxer briefs.  I love them!

As you can see, I didn't pay quite enough attention to the tutorial.  I cut out one of the legs on the wrong side of the fabric.  Luckily I had another pair of ripped jammie bottoms in blue so that will be the other leg.  I will aslo use the elastic from the original jammie bottoms for the elastic in the undies.  I had to put this project on hold because I had pressing projects for a birthday and Christmas but there it is.

Apron Skirt

My great grandma made this fantastic apron.

I was given some yellow gingham and decided see if I could make a skirt stlyed after the apron.

Art Carrier

This art carrier was a gift for a girl turning six years old. My daughter wanted to give her something Polly Pocket. I wanted to give her something handmade. I think this was a nice marriage of the ideas.

Cowl Neck Shirt

I used a shirt I already owned to create a pattern for this shirt.

I also promptly added a grease stain to the shirt right after this photo. *sigh*

Falls Leaves Napkins

I just put a new set of napkins in the shop. Just right for autumn.

Hobo Sacks

I used this tutorial to make these Hobo Sacks.

It's a sad day when you can't even find a stick. This boy may just want to take his hobo sack and journey to a land that does have sticks...

Easter Clothes

Here are the Easter outfits I sewed for the children. I used some of their existing clothes to create patterns and then embellished them.

The pants can be rolled up and secured to the button with a little yellow strap that is on the inside of the pant leg. There is also a hidden button to keep the flaps on the back pocket down.

Birthday Banner

I made this for my daughter's birthday.

The really cool thing about this banner is that one side is a regular, super cute banner.  On the other side, I put some vinyl on each of the triangles so that it is a multi-use banner.   It was my very own idea.  The photo makes the vinyl really noticeable.  In real life, it's not that shiny.  I can slide anything I want to fit the theme of the day in the little sleeves.  It can say "Matilda" one day and "Francis" the next.  I can put pictures of Tinkerbell in it for fairy parties or pictures of chicks and bunnies to celebrate Easter.

I had a friend do something incredibly nice for my family so as a thank you, I made her a set of thank you cards.

Birthday Maxi Dress

Do you remember the Kenny Rogers Roasters Pink Satin Curtains?  I told you I did something fancy with them. I'm sure you've been on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what it was.  The time has come.

I made this Birthday Maxi Dress with the help of Cat On A Limb.  She posted step by step directions on how to draft the pattern.  I did add flutter sleeves instead of making the shrug because I didn't have enough time to make it.  (While you are there, check out her tutorial on making Cherry Blossom Branches and she is having a fabulous giveaway - go quick, it ends tonight!)



These were from a broken bracelet.



This dress well used on her birthday - climbing on rocks and dirt piles and all. It had to earn every one of those wrinkles.
