Birthday Banner
I made this for my daughter's birthday.
The really cool thing about this banner is that one side is a regular, super cute banner. On the other side, I put some vinyl on each of the triangles so that it is a multi-use banner. It was my very own idea. The photo makes the vinyl really noticeable. In real life, it's not that shiny. I can slide anything I want to fit the theme of the day in the little sleeves. It can say "Matilda" one day and "Francis" the next. I can put pictures of Tinkerbell in it for fairy parties or pictures of chicks and bunnies to celebrate Easter.

Fence
We have declared this the Week of the Fence. We are spending all our free time getting our fence put around our property. It makes my muscles sore.

Standing in the Spotlight
Jodi at LivingLifePhotographically posted a spotlight on her blog about me today. Go see me somewhere else! (I said that nicely. It wasn't a go away kind of comment. Go to see but you are welcome back any time.)

Project: Simplify - Pantry
This was one I really needed and wanted to get done. When we moved in, I just put stuff that would go in the pantry in the pantry. No rhyme or reason to it. It all just got thrown in to get it out of the box and out of the middle of the kitchen counter. I hadn't fixed it yet. I took a photo a week or so ago because I knew I was going to organize it whether SimpleMom suggested it or not. I'm glad I did.
This is what I did to get this mess cleaned up: I found a wonderful man. I married him. Years later, he saw that our pantry needed cleaning up so he organized it while I was at work. No kidding! I've said it before: I'm a lucky, lucky lady.

A Birthday Cake for a Grown Up
It was refreshing to just make a cake. The only requirements were that it was simple. I like simple...and blue.

Book Quote - Jane Eyre #3
I finished Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
I give it 4/5 = I really liked it!
So here is one last quote:
"I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself. I will keep the law given by God; sanctioned by man. I will hold to the principles received by me when I was sane, and not mad - as I am now. Laws and principles are not for times when there is no temptation: they are for such moments as this, when body and soul rise in mutiny against their rigour; stringent are they; inviolate they shall be. If at my individual convenience I might break them, what would be their worth? The have a worth - so I have always believed; and if I cannot believe it now, it is because I am insane - quite insane, with my veins running fire, and my heart beating faster than I can count its throbs. Preconceived opinions, forgone determinations are all I have at this hour to stand by; There I plant my foot."
And if you have already read this book or don't mind a spoiler, here is a button that I thought was funny.

Mystery Seed
My daughter found a seed while we were on a walk. She wanted to know what it would grow up to be. I have no idea. So we planted it. It's a fairly large seed (this is a little girl hand). We planted it maybe five days ago and haven't seen anything yet. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
